5 Days Orangutan Longhouse Experience Tour

The 5 Days Orangutan Longhouse Experience Tour starts as most tours with a transfer by your guide from the Pangkalan Bun Airport where you will head to the seaport and inland entry port of Kumai and after a 15 minute boat trip you will embark on the journey inland into the jungle and mangroves.

You will eat lunch on the boat prepared by the on board chief and as you pass through the Seikonyer River you will be able to take in the untouched natural beauty of the banks and the wildlife surrounding them. In the afternoon you will land and see the Proboscis Monkeys which are incredibly interesting and make for a beautiful sight along the river bank as well as on land. You will see a whole range of wildlife in the area before returning to the boat for dinner and your overnight stay.

The second day of the 5 Days Orangutan Longhouse Experience Tour begins with breakfast on board and then you will visit the Pondok Tanggui Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre where you will see all of the baby and juvenile monkeys and the other young monkeys which are begin cared for and monitored in the area. After seeing the mothers and children interacting in much the natural way you will be able to see feeding time taking place at 09.00. After this incredible display and learning much about the animals and the park’s activities, you will then proceed to the main area of the national park. Camp Leakey is the next port of call and in order to get there you require passing the highly interesting region of Black River where you may see a whole array of birds, primates, fish and even crocodiles from the safety of your boat. Reaching Camp Leakey at 12.00 you will hike along the young forest to the where the Orangutans are held and reach the park in time for feeding at 14.00. You will be taken to the platform in order to watch over the whole area and after this incredible experience you will head back to the Nipah Palm where firefly will take off and you will have your overnight stay.

On the third and 4 day of the 5 Days Orangutan Longhouse Experience Tour you will return back down the river passing again all of the areas of interest and a great level of tropical beauty to the Pangkalan Bun where you travel by land to Lamandau River and then by speed boat to the Dayak village known as Bakonsu. Here you will see the local culture and the long houses as well as the Tewah ceremony and the Hornbill Dance which you may even take part in if you wish. You will dine with the locals and sleep in a well maintained Longhouse.

Day 5 Pangkalan Bun Departure
You will awake on the final day for breakfast and transfer back to the airport where you will be ready your connecting flight.
