5 Days Komodo Live Aboard Cruise
The 5 day Komodo live aboard cruise with Ombak Putih is one of the cruises offered offer using the excellent Ombak Putih (white wave) sailing boat.
This boat has been designed specifically for accommodating students and offering luxurious facilities as well as authentic Kalimantan style. There are 12 twin cabins each with an en suite bathroom, air conditioning and shared use of the crew of 15 staff members onboard to help the guests with any needs they have.
Day 1 Labuan Bajo - Gili Lawa.
On the 5 day Komodo live aboard cruise with Ombak Putih you will set off from Labuhanbajo in the west of Flores and then a few hours sailing will bring you to the uninhabited island of Gili Lawa Laut for an afternoon of beachcombing and snorkeling and a night’s sleep at anchor.
Day 2 Gili Lawa - Mesa
You will then have a morning dip the next day and set sail at around 9 o clock off to the island of Mesa where you will sea the sea gypsy’s settlement and a number of beautiful sights around and then sleeping onboard allows you to see the stilted house within Komodo bay at high and low tide from the water.
Day 3 Rinca Island Tour
On day three of the 5 day Komodo live aboard cruise with Ombak Putih you will meet the rangers ashore in Loh Liang where you will embark on a trek around the island and see the Komodo Dragons and some of the other strange animals of exclusive to this area all living in their natural habitats.
Day 4 Rinca Island Tour
Day four brings another visit to the rangers on Loh Buaya in the Rinca Island which is where you will see the larger and fiercer dragons and visit a traditional Rinca village which is located along the coast. At the village you will be able to talk to some of the locals about the life in this area and you will be able to enjoy an incredible seafood and meat BBQ dinner under the incredible sky of stars visible in this area of no light pollution.
Day 5 Back to Labuan Bajo in West Flores
On the fifth day you will sail back to Flores after seeing the incredible traditional whip fight dance that the locals will put on for you as well as learning about its symbolic purpose within the culture. This is a gripping spectacle of power provided by the Maggarai people making a perfect ending to this trip of culture and wildlife.
